Summary
Assist Human Resource management on a daily basis to ensure all customer requests are handled in a timely and confidential manner. Provide HR support to employees and managers. Responsible for timely resolution of general employee HR questions, screening resumes, coordination of the recruiting process, on-boarding of new employees, clearing background and pre-employment tests, data entry of employee transactions, responding to policy interpretation questions, managing leave of absences, initiating employee relocations, and providing ad hoc support to HR management team. Coach managers and employees on policies, programs and procedures. Assist managers and employees with performance management process and managers with recruitment, employee relations and engagement.
Position Responsibilities
Recruiting/Staffing/On-Boarding/Off Boarding (25 Percent)
Provide support for the entire recruiting process from generation of job requisition and candidate screening, through on-boarding of new hires.
Set up pre-employment aptitude assessments.
Screen resumes, conduct phone screens to assess basic qualifications and route qualified candidates to managers, following up as needed.
Prepare offer letter and new hire packet.
Process request and analyze results from background check, driver check and drug screen/physical.
Complete the recruitment file (resumes, postings, applicant log, interview sheets, candidate flow log and position requisition). Process new hire paperwork, perform data entry and complete payroll notifications.
Enroll candidate in credit card program, if applicable; process request for vehicle, Information Systems items, and tools, if applicable, and follow up with the appropriate department if there are issues.
Coordinate and manage the New Hire HR Overview. Resolve issues and answer questions regarding benefits; enroll new hire in medical, dental, and prescription drug programs.
Manage the off-boarding process including exit interviews. Ensure payroll is handled appropriately during employee separations, ensuring compliance with local and state laws. Advise managers on final check handling, ensuring compliance with local and state laws.
Ensure final time sheet payout is compliant with STERIS PTO, overtime, and other policies.
Human Resources Reporting/Administration/Systems and Processes (25 Percent)
Responsible for data accuracy of assigned groups. Perform employee data audits in the HR system on a monthly/quarterly/ad hoc basis to ensure accurate reporting. As needed, prepare employee data change forms for all fields in the system and forward for signature.
Provide turnover, headcount, and ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.
Coordinate and manage the leave of absence process for business groups. Follow all company policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with related laws. Ensure leave cases are closed out appropriately, or escalated to HR Manager as needed. Provide the required paperwork for leaves of absence, advise employees and managers of the process. Explain leave process to employees and managers, including application of PTO policy, STD, LTD. This may include coordinating with Health and Safety on Workers Compensation situations. Coordinate dates of leave; prepare the letter to authorize leave. Complete the notification to data entry and payroll; maintain the leave file with all notes and documents.
Act as point of contact for Manager/Employee Self Service and Timekeeping systems. Approve all actions submitted for entry into HRIS through MSS/ESS. Ensure accuracy and timely execution of employee data changes and supporting paperwork.
Provide miscellaneous administrative support to the Human Resource Department including processing check requests/purchase orders; etc
Coordinate annual recognition program. Assist with the award meeting planning:
prepare nomination materials, confirm performance criteria, and support selection meeting, as needed
Manage facility uniform program. Work with vendor, and manage uniforms issued to employees to ensure employees receive correct uniforms, and return uniforms when off boarding.
Provide Generalist support to a group or function (20 Percent)
Act as point of contact for an assigned group or function (exempt and nonexempt population) providing generalist support covering; coaching and counseling managers and employee on policies, programs and procedures, job descriptions, performance management and employee relations issues. Act as point of contact with managers on all recruitment efforts. Work with Director, HR or Sr. HR Manager on serious or complex employee issues.
Identify and implement plans to help recruit, engage and retain a high performing workforce.
Provide training on performance management topics, as needed.
Partner with managers to drive engagement activities and employee development.
Provide recruitment support or act as the lead on requisitions outside the direct assigned area.
Support Performance Management and Talent Management processes (20 Percent)
Responsible for ensuring all performance improvement plans and performance reviews are tracked, filed and required follow-up completed. Ensure employee compensation data is correct to ensure accuracy during annual process.
Support managers with process questions and provide some guidance regarding compensation questions, working with HR Manager.
Research and prepare information to support the groups HR planning process. Follow up and track development plans, prepare data, and report information as required under the direction of the manager.
Project Support (10 Percent)
Participant in or provide support for HR projects, as needed.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree
2 years of HR experience in Manufacturing Environment preferred; 1-2 years of recruiting experience preferred
Working knowledge of employment law, benefits, and Human Resources Information Systems
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
