Shipping Manager Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to join our team as a Shipping Manager.
As the Shipping Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the shipping and logistics operations of the company to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of products to customers.
This role requires a strong understanding of shipping processes, excellent leadership abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of effective communication, meticulous planning, and driving performance to meet and exceed goals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire shipping process from order fulfillment to final delivery, ensuring that it is timely, accurate, and cost-effective.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of shipping coordinators, supervisors, and warehouse personnel, ensuring that they are properly trained and motivated to meet performance targets.
- Develop and implement efficient shipping strategies and procedures to optimize operational effectiveness, meet customer requirements, reduce shipping costs, and minimize shipping errors.
- Collaborate with other departments, including procurement, sales, customer service, and production, to ensure accurate and timely order processing and delivery.
- Manage relationships with shipping carriers, negotiate shipping rates, and monitor carrier performance to achieve cost savings and improve delivery service levels.
- Monitor shipping data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement, analyze trends, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate shipping records, including invoices, bills of lading, customs documentation, and shipping reports.
- Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, customs requirements, and trade laws to minimize risks and maintain legal compliance.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in shipping and logistics.
Requirements:
- Experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a shipping management role, preferably in a fast-paced and high- volume environment.
- Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, regulations, and practices.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using shipping software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work in a flexible schedule when required.
