Job Description Primary Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
Create and communicate clear R&D vision, integrating both short and long term strategies, generating innovative solutions for existing and new products/processes that support our goal of world class status in manufacturing and differentiate us from our competitors. Develop project plans, budgets and resource plans to support short and long-term development priorities. Maintain awareness of the elements of the R&D project pipeline, participate in weekly update calls and restructure project activities as needed to achieve revenue goals. Provide leadership to the local R&D team. Provide cooperation to the international R&D team and all essential company functions with which R&D interfaces. Ability to quickly identify and mitigate high risk areas. Balance decisions and priorities, demonstrate willingness to make tough decisions. Make timely decisions in the face of risk and uncertainty. Act as the role model for the department; display professionalism and maintain positive morale. Promote collaboration and teamwork across all departments, and collaboration with the broader Avery Dennison technical community. Promote open and honest communication from the R&D Team that fosters the sharing of ideas and opinions effectively. Build organizational and technical capabilities while executing projects. Develop the skills of the R&D Team. Look for opportunities for continuous development and lead personal development and performance review discussions. Support recruiting efforts as needed. Support Sr. R&D Manager EU in advancing R&D stage-gate processes and ensuring process consistency across both regions Work closely with Marketing and Sales Group to help identify customer needs for NPD projects. Champion NPD changes and help others adapt and understand to changes in scope Engage and inspire innovation and IP development. Initiate and review NDA's Review and signatory for Gate Reviews. Understand and ensure compliance with cGMP, ISO 13485, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 regulations. Assist in the investigation of customer complaints and non-conformances as required Approval and rejection regarding CAPAs including initiation, timelines, resources, etc. as part of the management representatives in the CRB (CAPA Review Board). Perform other tasks as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or biomedical engineering, polymer science, or related education is required. Masters degree preferred. 7-10 years of experience in new product development preferably with pressure sensitive adhesives and/or pharmaceutical products. Materials and product knowledge. Preferable to have deep knowledge of segment products, processes, and markets/applications. Proven leadership skills (lead, motivate, process and people management skills). Demonstrate excellent communication skills and interpersonal/team effectiveness -- ability to succinctly and accurately communicate to various levels of management and employees. should have good verbal, written and presentation skills to technical and non-technical personnel. Ability to think and act from an overall best for the business perspective. Demonstrates initiative; results oriented; strong sense of urgency. Willingness to learn; customer facing. Creative problem solving. High degree of ingenuity and creativity. Passion and commitment to New Product Development. Authority to make changes happen across functions and departments. Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Google and function specific software. Some travel as needed to support the business.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Business DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
